A wall with a 2000-year history

Römisch-Germanisches Museum

Roman Cologne was surrounded by a massive city wall, more than six metres tall and four kilometres long, with 19 towers and 9 gates. This wall protected Cologne until well into the Middle Ages, and it can still be seen in many parts of the city today. Many already know the Roman Tower, but sometimes you have to take a closer look to see the Roman wall itself. With this booklet you can find the northern wall for yourself, from the cathedral to the Roman Tower.
