museenkoeln IN THE BOX
museenkoeln IN THE BOX brings museums to the people of Cologne and the surrounding region—making cultural participation easier, more vibrant, and more accessible than ever before! A mobile museum packed with fascinating artifacts, replicas, and photos, as well as state-of-the-art exhibition and educational technology, stops right where life happens: at schools, senior centers, and many other facilities throughout Cologne’s neighborhoods.
Living together requires rules—and people who stand up for them. From the Ten Commandments to the Constitution: What values underpin our society? Who protects them? And how do we take a stand today? The new exhibition “How Values Connect” is coming to you!
- Shared Values – What connects people of different backgrounds, religions, and life experiences?
- Treasures in the Museum – What objects do museums preserve, and why are they considered valuable?
- What is valuable to me personally? – The focus is on individual perspectives and personal stories.
In addition to historical objects, contemporary works of art are also on display. An interactive station invites children in particular to design their own museum.

“For us, cultural participation means giving people access to cultural content regardless of their origin, religion, or social background—and creating spaces for diverse perspectives. With ‘museenkoeln IN DER BOX,’ we are deliberately bringing the museum into the heart of urban society.”
Barbara Foerster, Director of the Cologne Museum Service
