Education for Sustainable Development

Forward-looking educational institutions promote values and skills that strengthen students' personal development. They support young people in taking responsibility and making conscious decisions for the common good, as well as for nature and the climate. The Cologne Museum Service supports daycare centers and schools with a diverse program based on the 17 goals of the United Nations' Agenda 2030. In accordance with Agenda 2030 and the UNESCO program “BNE 2030,” education for sustainable development promotes future-oriented thinking and action—aligned with democracy, human rights, peace, and global justice.

The Cologne Museum Service pursues these values in the nine municipal museums, its outreach programs, and online. After all, an ideal microcosm for sustainable values and democratic principles arises where they are not only taught but also lived and exemplified.
