Class with the Museum School
The Cologne Museum Service works in close cooperation with the Museum School. In this joint institution of the City of Cologne and the District Government, active schoolteachers teach directly at the museum as an extracurricular learning venue. The Museum School’s team includes five female and three male teachers from primary education as well as lower and upper secondary levels.
In cooperation with teachers at the schools, the Museum School enables children and young people of all school types to access the museum as a learning venue through a competence-oriented approach. Appointments are booked through personal consultation. Together with the Cologne Museum Service, the Museum School invites teachers to information events held in the collections and special exhibitions of the municipal museums.
Inclusion is an integral part of teaching. Children and young people with refugee experience are offered opportunities to participate in the cultural heritage preserved in the museums. The teachers of the Museum School see themselves as continuous learners in the field of school and museum.
